Loadouts built for a situation

The dorm room and lecture hall kit

One room, two outlets in the wrong places, a phone, a laptop, earbuds, and a lecture hall where the nearest socket is four seats away. This is the one kit where a shared wattage budget is the right answer rather than a compromise.

The build — 5 items

  1. A multi-port wall charger, accepting that the total is shared

Overnight is the one situation where a divided budget costs nothing. Sixty watts across five ports is slow per device and completely fine when everything has eight hours.

    Wall Chargers

    60W 5-Port USB-C Wall Charger, 2-pack

The listing states: 60W total across five ports.

  2. A 10 ft cable for the outlet that is nowhere near the bed

Dorm outlet placement is not a solvable problem, so solve the cable instead. At phone wattages the small voltage loss over a long run costs you nothing worth measuring.

    Wall Chargers

20W Charger Block with 10 ft USB-C Cable

The listing states: 20W output and a 10 ft cable.

  3. Earbuds with a long total runtime and a USB-C case

A case that charges from the same cable as everything else is one fewer thing to remember. A large stated total means the case survives a week of lectures without ceremony.

    Headphones & Earbuds

    TAGRY Wireless Earbuds

The listing states: 60 hours total playback, an LED power display, a wireless charging case, and IPX5.

  4. A compact power bank for the day

Roughly 37 Wh in a jacket pocket covers a day of lectures and a library evening. Nothing larger is needed when there is a room to come back to.

    Power Banks

Anker PowerIQ Power Bank, 10000 mAh

    The listing states: 5V 3A charging, ultra-compact.

  5. An adhesive grip with a kickstand

It props the phone up on a desk and works regardless of what is inside the phone, which matters when the phone is whatever was affordable rather than whatever has a magnet ring.

    Grips, Rings & Wallets

    PopSockets Adhesive Grip, Purple Fields

The listing states: Adhesive mounting and a kickstand position.

Leave out

Things that get packed for this situation and earn nothing.

  • A high-wattage single-port charger as the only charger

One fast port for four devices is the wrong shape for this room. Breadth beats speed when everything charges overnight.

  • A magnetic power bank

It costs efficiency for convenience you do not need in a room with outlets. Save the trade for travel.

  • A crossbody strap for a lecture hall

Nothing about sitting at a desk requires the phone to be attached to you, and a neck cord is an accessory to be deliberate about rather than a default.

What this covers

Everything in the room charged by morning, a phone that lasts a day of lectures, and audio that does not need daily attention.

What it does not cover

Fast charging anything. A shared budget is slow by design, and this kit trades speed for coverage on purpose. It also does not cover a laptop that needs more than a multi-port block can spare, which is a separate, single-port purchase.
